As a Jew, I'd also like Palestinians to be self-governing and to be able to coexist with Jews with no fear for their own safety and no desire to see Jews dead. Why can't we figure out a way to do that?

Hamas probably does, fair enough. Individual Palestinians… look, the only ones I’ve ever talked to are refugees in California but FWIW they don’t appear to be uniformly of that opinion. I would go as far as to call that a lie.
People now recognise that taking over someone's land on the basis of a "biblical right" is nonsensical. Before this agenda, Jews and Muslims lived happily side by side for millennia.
No. What's fabrication is how shooting children and innocent bystanders queuing for food and water at point blank range is "defence against terrorism ".
I mean, they rioted in 1929 and killed Jews. Several other times also. 1947 they started a civil war to stop Jews. Then joined Arab armies to destroy the Jews. Then them and the Arabs in 67, 73, etc either attacked directly or caused a war
Hamas charter is to destroy Jews. River to the sea the same
On the face of it, the US President seems to be advocating genocide in Palestine. That reflects the rhetoric of at least hard-line right-wingers in the Israeli cabinet. These aren't mere isolated extremist voices.
We have to condemn everyone who calls for genocide and reject the very idea of it.
Palestinians want an end to the bloodshed. And you're right that a significant number of Israelis want peace too. But collective punishment and genocide (because Palestinians are semitic, being native to their land) should never be acceptable

That’s not everyone but it’s the
majority.

Ok….
Jews were second class citizens to Arabs/Muslims in a category called dhimi, prohibited for example from riding horses.
They killed Jews in 1929 well before the IDF, and the settlements and Nakba and all that.

If you have Palestinians the choice to remove or destroy Israel, they’d take it in a heartbeat.
The opposite isn’t true except for a small crazy segment of Israeli society. Israel wants to live in peace but has to manage terrorism

As long as Palestinians agree Jews have a place in Palestine, we can find a solution, some partition like the one offered in 2000 or 2008
