I’m not talkin' about dance lessons. I’m talkin' about puttin' a brick through the other guy's windshield. I’m talkin' about takin' it out and choppin' it up.
Loved his comments in the cemetery. I very partial to the movie.
Tombstone reads:
“Died Tragically Rescuing His Family From the Wreckage of a Destroyed Sinking Battleship”
The scene when Ben Stiller proves that he stole all that money, and he pauses for a second to think about it, then laughs, probably the funniest scene in the movie to me
It is terrible how a man who led a legendary life as Gene Hackman ends like this. However the truth comes out, it's just unbelievable and out of left field.
Probably Because Anderson had the gall to tell him he wrote a part “with Hackman in mind” and that apparently was not what Hackman does. Anderson gave him a great role and he ran with it
The best. The subtle acting. Just simple. Doesn’t over due it. Steals every seen and makes the rest of the cast better. Huston is a titan in it as well
The BEST part was this at the end on his tombstone- "Died tragically rescuing his family from the wreckage of a sinking battleship". When I saw that I burst into laughter. Great movie.
"Is it our fault?" "No. If obviously there are certain sacrifices as a result of having children."...."maybe I wasn't as true as I could have been."🤣🤣🤣. Also, I use the phrase "I have a two part question" anytime I can.
I watched The Royal Tannenbaums last night. Classic Gene Hackman being himself playing someone else. He had such a great coolness when delivering lines.
The best Wes Anderson movies have one big, earnest, cathartic moment after being goofy as hell for a while, and when Chaz says "I've had a rough year, dad" and Royal replies "I know you have..."

"MR LUUTHOOR! MR LUUTHOOR!" 😭 He's the best villain in movie history 🥰
I rewatched Bottle Rocket and Rushmore.
I still like Bottle Rocket. I'm not a fan of Rushmore.
I've still only ever seen Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic and Darjeeling once.
Also not a fan of Moonrise Kingdom 😔
And yet I consider him my favourite director...
Pure joy.
Otisberg??!!
Tombstone reads:

it doesn’t get better than royal
His early stuff I love The French Connection and The Package.
Hackman “But I’m going to be OK!”
RIP Gene.
Thanks, man.
Pure. Fucking. Shakespeare.
MAX: (without stopping) Yeah, I know. She was mine, too.
