If you're a DM for DnD or any tabletop rpg, please, for the love of whatever you worship: ensuring your group (and that includes you!) has a good time playing is more important than playing strictly by every rule in the book.

Im saying that you, the DM, should always read your players (the room). You got to figure out how to keep players in the flow. Avoiding the boredom and also the frustration.
So do it by paying attention to how they verbally react. And also ask them for feedback after sessions, that's a good way to know what to change in the next one.
Like I don't mind when it makes sense like 'Collecting venom sacs'. But he wanted to know about storing brown mold, that... just seems like a bad idea...>>
Meanwhile, ripping my hair out behind the DM screen.
Works a charm ^^'
Ive fumbled encounters, forgotten plans, and spent more than a few minutes in a single session umhing and aahing while I prepare assets I forgot to prepare earlier!
but theyve consistently told me it was a good time so!
I prefer to play by some rules rather than bend or break them all. 🤷🏻♂️
I'm sorry, but I don't find that fun, and I had nothing to do as a player.
We were playing a game that had multiple instances of the rules countermanding each other. The fun thing is that many games could fit this bill.
