I know people, including myself, try and find some kind of "logic" to crimes like this. Sometimes there isn't any. Sometimes sick people do sick things because that is what they wanted to do. Sometimes there is no wider "conspiracy" at hand. Sometimes there isn't a "political angle".

I'm not convinced that we can say people who want to hurt others are always sick. Not the majority, and certainly not what society has agreed, but there are a chunk of people who enjoy hurting others. And as you say that's really hard to know what to do with.

There seems to have been little press or political interest in or reference to 22-year-old Jake Davison from Plymouth, who in August 2021 shot and killed 5 people, including his mother + a 3 yr-old girl
+ injured two others.

Why no outrage about him or his ideology?
His mum reported him to Prevent.

There were investigations into how he got his gun, and recommendations that (AFAIK) didn't change legislation.

But my point is, what about his ideology, about what led him to kill those people - where is the focus on that like there is with Axel Rudakubana?

Axel Rudakubana's extreme violence targeted females but he's being portrayed by many in the RW especially as somehow Islamic despite being raised Christian.
OK he had a copy of a CIA translation of an Al-Qaeda terrorism manual but anyone can download that from the internet, doesn't make them Muslim.

This was an horrific murder committed by a disturbed violent loner. I bet 99% of those trying to make it about race/immigration have conveniently forgotten the two 15 year olds who murdered schoolgirl Brianna Ghey. The two cases seem very similar, driven by obsession with violence and not ideology.
