He can’t NOT know this, because @jolyonmaugham.bsky.social has evidence that amongst the clinical advice Streeting received was a clear warning that trans kids are a vulnerable patient cohort for whom withdrawal of card would very likely have serious consequences (I’m paraphrasing).

I don't care enough about most politicians to have anything beyond a like/dislike of their policies and behavior but Streeting is such a careerist quisling that, hey, as it turns out, I despise him. Zero principles that aren't for sale. An embarrassment to the left and the gay community.

It's imv that we're expected to pretend he isn't what he clearly is. Like, nobody is asking us to please acknowledge the liberal values of Lee Anderson or Priti Patel, so I can just look at them, go "Ew!" and carry on. The way we're asked to think of Streeting as one of us is what makes it awful.

Goes for so much at the moment it seems. We are meant to suck up absolutely abhorrent things against marginalised groups "because it's Labour doing it". Streeting is one of the worst for playing to that, but sadly not the only one.

And, this is so clearly either a personal preference or a sign that he's mad indebted to the TERF lobby. Labour's immigration stuff is also dumb Reform voter bait, but there at least, the public has been demonstrably trained to care too much about immigration. That's not the case for trans rights.

Streeting's admittedly had *a bit* of a self-loathing phase and struggled to (allegedly) separate himself from jesus-doctrine. Completely the wrong person for the job.
Just another avenue for Forced-Labour to delight in harming society.
