in the US - the median multifamily building is trending larger and larger... yet in germany - the median housing has been essentially a 6-plex for basically a hundred years

really interesting table showing german homes constructed by year and size

left half is small scale multifamily housing (3-12 WE - wohneinheiten: units) and 12+ units.

4.5M homes in basically 6-plexes from 1979-2009 v. 1.5M homes in larger buildings (~20 units per building)
