If the allies had backed the Spanish republicans and international brigades in the Spanish revolution or at least listened to them, WW2 would not have been nearly as bad.
We got to vote out every Democrat in office, even our faves, because the infection of move to the right instead of activating your base has spread to all members. We need strong primaries for all incumbents.

the fact that we still have so many nazi's popping up is because the united states made (and still makes) space for them.
Their opponents are no different. Because, well, that ideology is a very productive way of control dumb population. Claim stricter control on the municipal function, create an enemy group , promize brighter future (new Order, MAGA, Russian ORder, National Idea, etc.)
They escaped to South America and then spent the intervening decades working their way North, passing on their re-branded “conservative” worldview, and infiltrating local level governments.
Oh, they didn't need the Klan - the Nuremberg Laws are directly inspired by the Jim Crow laws. The US was equally as racist (and antisemitic for that matter) as Nazi Germany until it became inconvenient during WW2 to fight the Nazis when they were basically Nazis themselves.
After some thinking I came to the conclusion that they were never really beaten. They were just swept under a rug, where they recovered and multiplied. And now they're in the open in force. They come in 2 colors: blue AND red.
It's also probably helpful to know that US fascist programming after WW2 turned into 'anti-socialism' (just without the fasces or swastikas) and when you think about it that way, they didn't suffer a defeat; they've thoroughly dominated the US politically.
They just had to re-brand.
Whatever the Union did to the South was wrong. It allowed the South to have a festering nostalgia for the life they went to war for (it was slavery, it was always slavery, and "states right" just meant "the right to own slaves).
They were not defeated, because they were re-absorbed as they were.
The government of the South should have been turned over, at least provisionally, to the freed slaves. If the war was about slavery, I think only the people who were enslaved had the moral right to decide how their society should be reformed after liberation.
Yes, during early reconstruction a lot of newly freedmen voted and won election to office- but after Johnson's pardon pen and the Compromise of 1877, reconstruction ended and shortly the confederacy resumed but as a collection of lynch mobs with lawyers and money
Reconstruction in the South was working until the conservatives put a stop to it because too many black people were voting and winning local elections. After that Jim/Juan Crow laws became the norm in former CSA states and the southwest territories of AZ/NM. KKK was gone until...
We never purged them we just let them back in as if they were just gonna magically reintegrate with the union they tried to destroy and not cause generations of damage.
for the south it was about slaves, not for the north though. the reason the war was never about slavery is because the north didn't truly fight to free slaves, they fought to keep the south under control and prevent it from becoming its own country.
i'm not saying they didn't free slaves, i'm saying it wasn't the main goal. and also, let's not pretend like they got equal rights in the north or south after the war. even among the people who abolished slavery there were still racist bigots.
Not even joking: the unwillingness of the North to properly punish the traitors from the South in the name of "unity" was the catalyzer of many of the tragedies of the last 200 years, in particular the World War II.
I have to live with the fact that I had to listen to Holocaust survivors and their families try their best to explain to a bunch of Sunday-Schoolers why they had to attend their classes near white supremacists.

There are too many neo nazi groups at your country, and one election won't stop them.

K-12 doesn't teach Americans jack shit about the history of their country, only a white-wash version of it.
US has always been a racist country that was built on the back of slaves & the genocide of the natives
hypocrites
That's why the United States collaborated with the Nazis in the Cold War
