We're going to pretend all this Trump nonsense is good for the economy for a few months and then the flaws will become obvious. Why? Because we've seen this movie so many times before. This time it will be different? Isn't usually.

Don't remember Reeves:
- threatening other countries sovereignty
- imposing tariffs on closest allies
- deporting a great many people who are doing a lot of the poorly paid work
It wasn't Reeves that imposed non-tariff trade barriers with our largest trading partners
βIβve challenged businesses as well and said no one else is going to speak up for Britain apart from us. It hasnβt been a very British thing to say,β she told the Times.
As long as we avoid world war, nuclear holocaust, complete implosion of all economic systems, etc., having one of the largest. most prosperous nations in history collapsing because Trump *promised* to lower the price of eggs might be a potent lesson for the rest of the world about populism.
My personal power play would be for Denmark to stop supplying the USA with Ozempic and Wegovy. That would not only sort out the Greenland nonsense, but also cause a huge US backlash against Trump. I think you have to fight crazy with crazy. π
In the real world you are of course correct. But they inhabit a fantasy topsy-turvy world where black is white. Repubs are no longer a party but a cult. Theyβve kept up the stolen election lie for 4 years with no sign of giving it up. Evidence wonβt dissuade them.
Some of the folk writing gushing takes about the wonderfulness of the returning Trump are going to be pretending they never did when the bills for the arbitrariness, craziness and corruption come in. As they always do.
I could bet a tenner that the economy doing badly will be blamed on Democrat governors or Republicans who decided something he wanted to do was too batshit

Her goal to cut benefits by millions. Her goal to cut back regulations to boost economic growth.

Positivity yes, similar policies, no.
How clearer can it be?
We can only hope the US population wakes up before Trump destroys everything.
It's a disaster over there.
