theyve been caught red handed stealing artists work and having derivative AI imagery hosted on Firefly, despite touting the AI database was built only out of Creative Commons files
I have been using GIMP since about 2006. Paint . NET for about a decade, and I have had Krita for about three years. I never really liked Photoshop. This is a good infographic!
I was so angry when Adobe acquired Substance.
Luckily they haven't changed anything to the payment model so far but tbh it is probably just a matter of time.
Fun fact: Adobe is a ripoff version of GIMP (which free and fairly good), they basically made minor changes to design. GIMP still gets update now and again to make improvements or mix bugs/errors that pop up.
People can also search for more; e.g., I know off the top of my head two programs I use, sox for audio, and imagemagick for graphics. Both are FLOSS (Free, Libre, Open-Source Software). I just used imagemagick this week. But there are a lot more options!
I use all Affinity Products, but to be fair I never used InDesign, but I'm very familiar with Adobe Photoshop and I would say it's not that massive in functionality, but reasonable for the price and what you need in everyday work. It runs really stable for me and is set up well.
If you have the time, I would suggest using the free 30 day trial product and see if you like it. I really did and since there is no monthly pay, only a one time payment that gets you all updates, I would say it's really worth the money.
Ps is Photoshop, Ai is Adobe Illustrator, etc. If you used, or consider using, any Adobe tools, that abbreviation is used in their icons (and often elsewhere).
I've been using CS5 because I bought it cheap almost twenty years ago when I was a student. I still use it - I doubt it has the capacity to upload my artwork to some shady AI training factory. I'm tempted to pirate some other Adobe programs now since they're signalling that stealing is okay.
Good to see that CorelDraw has a Mac version again. I guess Adobe's continual screwups finally pushed them to it LOL. I bought it back in 1999 and still use the same version (for Windows). Soooo much easier to use. Illustrator feels like it's designed to make doing anything difficult.
REALLY?? 👀 bout to get my hands on some illustrator thennnn. It's so dumb because if it was an $80, heck even $100 one time purchase I'd do it but this stupid subscription model is just highway robbery

i mostly just use aseprite.
Foxit has other pro products, like Editor (= Acrobat Pro), at a cost, but much cheaper than Adobe.

I'm still new in digital, I only use CSP
