I think about the 'potential' of ADHD people a lot.
I have met so many incredible people through my work who seem far more capable than they assess themselves to be. Who feel like failures because they struggled at school, especially when they learn differently to others.
No insight, just sad.

Once a friend of my mother was really impressed by me making up a story out of nowhere. I was seriously surprised they found that to be a skill worth noting. Not only was it easy, but I always believed everyone could do that.
Doesn't mean I did well on everything else, but I just never needed to do it. Because my brain always had at least *something* at hand.
So now I’m trying to help my son who was diagnosed at 19 and is now 21
Potential is not ability. Potential is only that- potential.
Any old rock has the "potential" of being a great statue.
It wasn't until I got dxed and medicated that I went from potential to actual.
I don't know where this comes from, but it is quite ingrained in a lot of people.
It's a massive thing
Mine relates to how ADHD affects me in other areas rather than academically.
Loss of " missed years" for many of us in many areas of life.
No real answers. But gratitude for diagnosis even though very late
