Why is it that a woman comes in, tackles all the "urgent but ignored tasks", holds herself to a higher standard of service but gets hated on & then "any male" is suddenly more credible?

I also think the messaging requirements are different. The older demographic leans hard on "I already know that white guy/I hate young women" while younger people want to know about their lives. The current mayor needs kids in halls/under 40 WLG to register/vote to beat 'trusted white dude'
Also, we are in a bubble here because we see @misswhanau.bsky.social and @rebeccamatthews.bsky.social regularly engaging with humans and telling us what is happening. So we have learned to trust them. They have shown us who they are through their work.
I think it's fair to say bluesky is left leaning but I think that occurred because the folk here demanded to be treated well so it ain't the right wings thing
Valid point. Respect and care for one another are definitely the norm in my skyline. People offering support and celebrating accomplishments fill my feed.

Wellington is, frankly, a bit depressed. A bunch of public servants have lost their jobs, those left are trapped in increasingly shitty ones. Tory got a hospital pass as it was, but I think people also take their woes out on whomever is in office.
