Watanabe also produced Carole & Tuesday! A story about two musicians who aspire to be musical stars. One of the leads is a black girl named Carole Stanley; she plays the keyboard/piano. Tuesday plays the acoustic guitar. Their world exists in Cowboy bebop.

Continuing, Watanabe kept this idea moving forward with Samurai Champloo. The acclaimed series may be about the samurai, but the creator said he made sure the anime involved various foreigners, immigrants, and people of different color.

Always thought that was a nice touch. He had literally every excuse to make it entirely Japanese considering the era, but still found room for it. Usually was at least somewhat plausible (For a show as silly as SC) such as with the Dutchman who sneaked out of the Dutch trade post.

The movie also brings the Arabic neighborhood of Moroccan street into the spotlight. We see depictions of people carrying on with their daily lives. Scenes such as these make everything seem authentic and real. Spike is completely immersed in his environment here.

I have loved Samurai Champloo ever since we rented the dvds back when Netflix sent physical copies of shows to people to borrow. It's such a fun, interesting show with elements I had never seen before in anime.

Cowboy bebop was and still is a masterpiece of science fiction writing, world, story and character. It is my fav TV show ever made and it is not only for the above but because it felt lived in, it felt real and that is because it was DIVERSE.
