Bluesky will be launching a subscription service by the end of the year. There are no details yet on how many tiers. Premium tiers will likely include higher-resolution pics, more/longer video uploads, and profile/page customization aesthetics. Longer term, there's a monetization plan for creators.

There's already a case of impersonation, in which the victim got their domain intercepted and their impersonator used it to make verified account on Bluesky.

How did they intercept it? Also I’m not claiming it’s a perfect system but all verification systems are flawed. At least you can self rectify it when you own the domain.

I'm hoping it's just cosmetic/quality of life things rather than things that mess with the algorithm or are paid promotion slots. I feel like they'd get a lot of buy-in for that, especially things like cosmetic changes to profile pages
I'm expecting it to be controversial and cause complaints though

Reinforcing your post. Adding, they should lower the threshold for "celebrity." I can't count how many times on TikTok I get messages from spam accounts claiming to be creators who "only" have 100k followers. Really annoying.

OG verification on twitter started after some celebrity was impersonated and got sued. I was expecting someone to sue again after many impersonators were verified post acquisition. Now it's too late after they moved their HQ to Texas.
