I'm stuck on 2010s harem and isekai. Not only do other anime fans not know what I'm talking about. They look down on me. From their perspective, I'm dumpster-diving outside of their ivory towers. I guess I shouldn't blame them. We can't all appreciate the thrill of finding hidden gems.

In the 90s I learned what anime is; but I had watched a little before that. It was the 80s Astro Boy that was my first exposure to it. And it was the Canadian English dub.

Hehe.... I started out on Kimba and Speed Racer. Was a little late for Astro Boy. But yeah. Watching anime catch on fire has been a journey. I still have found memories of getting together to watch smuggled video tapes with homebrew subtitles at UofM.

I am endlessly amazed that astounding stories keep coming from the genre. I think the key difference between it and the standard fair we see on western TV is that it usually comes from manga or lite novels. So the stories tend to be already vetted before brought to screen. It seems to add depth.

Bullcrap! We had anime in the 90s. We just had a different name for it. It was recommended in magazines. We had VHS tapes at rental stores. It aired on TV in the early evening on SciFi and Toonami. Kids had it too with Kids WB and Fox Kids airing anime censored and dubbed.

It is really, really weird to be at a convention where Furukawa Toshio is a headline guest and you see nothing Urusei Yatsura and no cosplay and like, 1 Hokuto no Ken cosplayer and a few people who knew Gundam.

Honestly, seeing all the Piccolo was almost a surprise. This con had a weird scene.

Weird lots of kids watched anime at the high school I worked at although anime back then in the 90s was pretty terrible. Remember the warnings they may cause seizures? I started watching Naruto and Bleach in 2000. The kids got a kick out of that. But Miss Brooks your grown! I still watch anime!

90s was the peak of anime!! Ghost in the shell, inyuasha, visions of escloflowne, gunsmith cats, riding bean, record of lodoss war, neon genesis Evangelion. 85 to 97 was the best era. 2000s is when it got bad

And no not all anime’s in the 2000 are bad, Shaman King (2001) is rlly good (as far as I can remember) or Yakuza goes Hausmann. The newer ones like Delicious in Dungeon or Dan Da Dan are good as well. But in the end it's a matter of taste ofc cx

True! Dandadan was fantastic! I also really liked mob psycho 100. True theres some good stuff. Demon slayer was great too. There was a rough period though.
