Would you rather have the billionaire owners pocket more of the money? The product exists and the demand is enormous. Football players, relative to the income generated, are relatively underpaid, if anything.
High enough taxes would reduce this drastic wealth inequality so that no one would be getting paid like that. $50M a year contracts wouldn't be a thing
Yes they would. They would just be taxed at a higher rate. Do you really not understand how much money football generates? Do you not understand what a “market” is?
Please do not continue to believe initial reported contact numbers, they are almost always max value numbers made to look good.
Once more details come out on the structure, it will (likely) be much less. Also it’s very rare that contracts are fully played/paid without alterations.
That's fine and all, but it's still going to be a lot of money. I'm sure it's not majority incnetives based. Seeing other corners go for less ridiculous prices.
I get it. You also have to remember tax is a lot higher in Mass. than other states/weather/Pats are not a great team the moment, so they’ll likely have to pay a bit more than some other teams to get players to come here. Luckily we have more than enough space so I hope the continue to use it well!
