just stumbled on a real jaw-dropper of a line in an essay -- “The corollary of being interested in a great range of things is to have sympathy with a great range of outlooks” -- and that, my friends, is why reading is so important.

Reading and traveling. Not a day trip either. Stop somewhere and visit for awhile. Get friendly with the locals. You will open a whole new view on the world at large.
As I've matured and learned more about my family of origin, I've realized that books literally raised me--gave me stories that shaped my moral compass and capacity for empathy.
I've lived thousands of lives. I can understand your point of view.
when you hear about books being banned, when you see teachers and textbooks being replaced by AI, just know that they want to limit the amount of knowledge available to you because they want to decide who gets your empathy.
thats why the top elites hired, promoted, selected personalities that were intolerant left authoritarians, to create a cultural backlash of the many more numerous bottom who would welcome elons "freedom of speech" and get so brainwashed on x.
Our own government is betraying us, owned by them.
I tried to teach my son over the years that the more knowledge you gain, through reading and experience and however people learn, the more context you have for whatever life throws at you. The more pieces of the puzzle you have, the easier it is to solve.

Owl at the Library
Two of my
favorite things
are owls
and libraries
At my old age I know that to be correct
Thank you for sharing it. :)
I've lived thousands of lives. I can understand your point of view.
I see it as a prerequisite for empathy.
But this one of your own is it. This is the truth of the moment.
Thank you for sharing.

That's the goal, to keep us all stupid. Telling us all what to think instead of how to think.
Our own government is betraying us, owned by them.
"I wandered out in the world for years
While you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon"
Perhaps the "room" was a library.
Library today and checked out some actual books for the first time in years. It was a wonderful feeling.
And that is also why so many books have been burned over the centuries.
The way this truth hurts.
Understanding Psychology thru the lens of empathy and not eugenics is similar.
