generally I agree, but she's a weird one; she's fairly pro union and far and away better than anyone else they're likely to get in that position in a GOP admin.
No offense, but this is far too timid a response. There should be no D votes for anything. This is not some simple policy disagreement. This is an assault on our Republic.
More importantly, they need to demand that the admin follows the impoundment act and the constitution. It is way more important and dangerous that the executive is deciding how and where the money is spent. Doge is of course fundamental to how the admin is controlling funds.
I don’t think they will be allowed to remove Musk in that obvious and concrete a way. Trump won’t let them. The demand probably needs to be that congress reasserts power over spending.
That is usually my perspective as well, but Musk’s people are already thoroughly embedded, so getting rid of the worst human being in the world might feel good, but I don’t think it solves the problem. It’s not like his absence at this point will change things. But congress pursuing its rights would
We need to constantly link musk to trump and then to the parade of horribles they are causing. My concern is eventually Trump will dump musk and blame everything on him - he’s already completely accountability-adverse. Why offer him an out by pinning this all on musk?
Yep, he's a Commander-in-waiting. Vought needs to go. But I don't think Dems will ever be able to use the debt ceiling to negotiate for removing an OMB director. Maybe it's a bargaining tactic: ask for Vought/Musk, GOP counters with Musk only? Ha, it'll never happen but it's nice to dream...
Sorry - that should read: The optics in THIS one photo are a lot. The position of Musk, Vance, Trump, and what appears to be maybe Benjamin Franklin scowling at all of them
I wonder if Trump will be able to definitively install a fully totalitarian government before the people are fed up enough to take the streets and kick him out.
I am not optimistic; the Trump/Musk/Putin team is progressing very quickly, the people just start realizing what's going on.
there's been a lot of pushback the last couple weeks, and you can see them skittering around trying to deal with it by pretending Musk isn't in charge or cancelling town halls, etc.
Men who wear ball caps (any hats really) indoors look like uneducated rubes. Sure, there are uniforms for some professions, but this is not that. Double rube points of it is on backwards.
Also a requirement to strip his companies of fed contracts.
It's impossible now to disentangle him from illegal power in any way that we could still trust any contract with any of his company's not to be pure corruption and anti-fair competition.
well, their power is somewhat limited. but they voted unanimously against the budget resolution, and they seem to be gearing up to refuse to help with votes re the shutdown as long as musk is illegally impounding funds.
If millions take to the streets simultaneously, with industries shutting down and cities at a standstill, it could send a clear message that Trump’s policies are not just unpopular—they are actively harming the nation.
5/5--Economic Pressure – Disrupting key industries (shipping, public services, major corporations) forces those in power to respond. When businesses feel the strain, they pressure the administration.
4/5--Coordination Across Movements – Labor unions, advocacy groups, activists, and progressive politicians would need to align efforts, ensuring media coverage and public support.
3/5--Sustained Momentum – A one-day strike would make a statement, but a longer, well-organized strike with rolling participation (across sectors and states) would have greater impact.
2/5--Clear Demands – The message should be strong, unified, and focused:
Stop dismantling government institutions, uphold democracy, and protect civil rights.
1/5--For a general strike to succeed, it would need:
Mass Participation – Workers across industries (transportation, healthcare, education, tech, service industries) would need to walk out. Unions and labor organizations would be key in mobilizing action.
If millions take to the streets & participate in gral strike it could become one of the most powerful acts of civil resistance in modern U.S. history. Labor & protest movements like Civil Rights Movement anti-Vietnam War protests & recent mass demonstrations, have forced major political change
It's honestly pointless to negotiate on anything so long as Trump is asserting the unilateral power to impound funds, since any concession made by the Republicans can be zeroed out.
After watching the Rs over the length of Biden's term, I would give them no cooperation at all. They've betrayed promises and when there were bipartisan bills, they still bent to the will of Trump. Treat them as Trump would treat us.
Except for Raul Grijalva, who can’t show up to vote. (Yes, he’s recovering from cancer, but if he can’t get to D. C., then he should resign. It’s a safe Dem seat.

i would also like to upgrade "removal" to "denaturalization on the grounds of trying to take over the country" but that's not gonna happen so...
The EOs are in the courts so Congress can hope judges invalidate them, including Elon's fake dept.
If they can't restore spending power the lawsuits become harder to win. It's the 1st step.
Russell Vought and his Project 25 - Gilead goals - are behind this budget.

Decide which kind of baseball you're playing and then play it.
I think the people are saying hardball.
You feel me?
