Time for another round of the fun game "Why did I wake up in the middle of the night last night?"--is it anxiety? Perimenopause? The rapid deconstruction of my country and our democracy?

Was there an earthquake? (happened)
Did a neighbor above me drop something heavy on the floor? (Happened)
Does the neighbor across the hall have a john who followed her home and is stalking the hallways and my doorcam went off? (This happened..I have a SHADY neighbor)
Probably both. I started experiencing annoying symptoms again like as I'm falling asleep, I wake myself up with the like a sensation of shock/fear and then it repeats every few minutes until I finally get so exhausted that I fall asleep.
When she was very small my daughter woke up in the night and said 'cats are trouble but pigs are for peace'. I always hoped they were mystical words from another realm that would reveal something profound but as it's turned out, it's come to nothing.
I cannot recommend SAD light glasses enough for this. Have slept through the night every night since about a week after I started using them regularly in the morning. All the rest is still there in the morning but at least if I can get to sleep I can stay asleep.
Likely all of the above; at least it is for me. But also, it turns out pretty much everything is because of Perimenopause, because no one can be bothered to study it. Anxiety? Sleeplessness? Teeth overly sensitive? Leg falling off? Tongue turning green? Must be Perimenopause. (shrug)
Waiting for cancer biopsy results and saw they are in my patient portal...didn't open them, waiting for my doc to call, but sure makes for an awful night...
I feel for you. I started having full blown hot flashes in 2016. It was a rough time. Address what you can. I recommend Soma Cool Nights pajamas and a small bedside fan. You will at least be more comfortable while contemplating the destruction of America.
My cat and bladder, every time. Somehow Iβm able to keep the anxiety over the nation going to hell at bay when Iβm supposed to be sleeping. The anxiety seems to accept this deal, in exchange for dominating my waking mind. π€·π»ββοΈ
5:30 am wakeup for me and I think it was acid reflux. I was hot and nauseous but a Tums and cool washcloth seemed to fix it. Maybe it's also anxiety tbh.

After solving the latter, realized it was just dread.
You're just returning to your roots!
But that's his deliberate effort to flood the zone & incapacitate 50% of the population.
Time to take very slow and deep breaths. Time to do our best thinking.
I remember those halcyon days when I could sleep through the night.
