Thanks to @aclusc.bsky.social and @authorsabb.bsky.social working in SC to fight bans. The challenges have been brought by 1 parent who earlier filed 97 challenges in Beaufort County, nearly all of them denied. She's re-challenging now that a state law passed in July 2024 makes banning easy.

Imagine if people who actually cared about this showed up en masse to shame that wretched person. When I’ve shown up to leg sessions they’re in number and we’re not. It’s easy to shut them down. It’s harder but possible to shame them by merely showing up.

At a MINIMUM these challengers should have to live in the same school district... and if it were up to me they should also have a kid currently in one of the schools there.

And whatever the excuse they've developed for excluding it can more than likely be used as the basis why other books should not be banned! After all the bible is NOT the direct words of Jesus! The first gospel was written ~90 years after his death. From the Greeks to Roman emperor Constantine...

the bible has been rewritten to fit the narrative of the ancient times. That's why gospels of Mary Magdalene were omitted bc it didn't fit in with the male dominated world of the church. So folks believing they're reading the holy word of God, are just reading the desired interpretation by men.

I grew up in a fundamentalist faith that explained that god would have made sure that the books he wanted in the bible were the ones that got put in the bible when it reached our hands. Seemed like a sensible and clear argument to me!

The thought of having my book banned (not that it is) is both excites and infuriates me. To write something that challenges thought and morals is exciting, but someone being offended to the point of rallying their cronies to ban a book isn't just infuriating, it's stupid.
