New England family here and yeah, we schlepped it to DC in the car instead of getting on a plane to ANYWHERE, but certainly not abroad. The anecdata is growing.

Hell, at this point, I'm afraid to drive through half the states in this country. I'm stuck in a cluster of 4 Midwestern blue states, and certainly won't be taking any planes or trains, until my trans kid can get a passport safely.

My friends canceled a trip to Mexico because they are afraid of getting illegally detained on the way back.

They are US citizens of Filipino descent and afraid their caramel skin, tattoos, and Spanish-derived last name could cause problems. 💔

NYC has been packed all week. I've given more private tours at my museum in the last week than I have in the last year - all for friends and family who made last minute plans to come to NY for spring break (my usual audience is school groups, so I had a light week planned).

I’m in the U.S. citizens staying home movement because of the utter lawlessness of this fascist administration. Normally I travel abroad 2-4 times a year. Not going anywhere until we have clear direction outlawing the unconstitutional targeted imprisonment and deportations.

I'm going to a conference in Montreal in June. It's in a STEM field, and most of the attendees are US-based (it's actually the first time the conference is being held outside the US). They've already made unexpected and notable changes to facilitate virtual attendance.

We travel internationally every summer to visit family, and my husband and I are already trying to figure out if we can bring our phones/laptops or need to ship them back. We also are planning to make sure my parents are available to pick our 4yo up from the airport if we’re held for a long time.

I’m hesitant atm about letting my wife go back to her country with our daughters cause of what’s going on and the possibility of issues upon reentry. With possibility of further issues in the future with this admin, I’m wondering if I have to safe that money for their potential exit.

My husband's a dual citizen born abroad to naturalized parents and has been scrambling to get original copies of his paperwork because he's terrified ICE will deport him to an overseas prison if they see a foreign city as his birthplace. I’m sorry. This is so real. I’ve heard from a lot of friends and colleagues about traveling for work and feeling unsafe for multiple reasons. I don’t even go to the store without my passport any more. It’s just horrifying.

It really is. 💔 I'm sorry you feel the need to carry your passport even to the store - which actually is a good idea! But I hate that this is where we are.
