I learned this playbook dealing with my mum, who is not just a transphobe but a bigot on any axis you can think of and generally a horrible person. If I tried to offer a compromise, she'd take it as evidence I knew she was really right

But it's "good for women". At best, many young women and girls will choose not to play sports because of the humiliation and/or their parents will not allow them. At worst, many young women and girls will be abused, molested, and raped. An obvious reminder that trans rights are human rights.

The unwitting irony of the Republican legislation will be writ large when cis women are assaulted in order to prove their sex, and trans men invade female toilets to comply with it. Sadly, many of those inspected by the genital police will be young girls.

I tried saying this over on the Majority Report's subreddit, and what I got was a bunch of "Leftists" telling me this was a non-issue, I was fearmongering, there were "some valid concerns," and that I should shut up and focus on class issues.

I think Trump gave the game away when he made a comment about "banning women's boxing." Not banning trans women from women's boxing, but just women's boxing, period. These people don't want women in sports at all.
