I wish that Google offered the same “downgrade” option to get rid of Gemini completely. Instead, you have to have an upgraded (more expensive) plan to even disable it.
Complete coincidence. I have never watched that channel before, this video popped up on my feed yesterday and thought might be worth watching. I’ll need to check my own subscription now.
Actually copilot is terrible for people who don't know anything. The best use cases in the work I do are high skill workers either with more work than they can get done on time, or dealing with new domains they don't fully understand yet.
Just telling unskilled workers to use copilot is terrible
I'm not convinced by the usefulness of AI. I write powershell scripts a lot. I asked copilot to improve the performance of a few scripts - it did nothing but adjust the case of my commands and move variables to places it'd break the logic.
in that scenario, neither 'you' nor the LLM has competence, and the design should be undertaken by someone with competence. this isn't hard. we don't take it in turns to drive the bus; there's a trained driver. i pay someone to service utilities, even though technically its straightforward.
Okay, right now I am running part of an IT department for a not for profit that support 8 people on a shoe string budget. Someone is mandated start using a new product but we need to get a draft of security implications and we have no experts.
Also the Help Desk is, hypothetically, is current 2 weeks behind schedule because of a big deployment of a new Cloud technology that we can not develop internal training but had to deploy becaues of GDPR order, are we going to hire 20 experts at £500 a day?
In innovation terms, it’s usually a pretty damning sign when the maker of a service has to try and convince you that you have the problem they need you to have in order to sell their service, rather than being able to offer it as a solution to a problem that you actually have
If you're dealing with this, just go to cancel your subscription and they give you the option to "downgrade" to Family Classic, which is literally just what I already have
I’m not looking for an alternative software so please stop recommending them
I’m paying for a family subscription because multiple people are using it and the ease and familiarity of using it is a big part of managing my neurodiversity
But co-pilot will give you six fingers on each hand, mismatched earrings, three arms, and an extra butt cheek! Just think of all the extra work you can get done!

I also think that hiding the option to go back behind a button labelled "Cancel" isn't good either.
🤷♂️
Suspect they’re gonna get in a bit of trouble about this
You need Copilot you just don't know it.
"Lacking intelligence? You need Copilot."
Just telling unskilled workers to use copilot is terrible
But lets say you get a request to design a system you have only minor experience or knowledge of, or have not worked with in years?
Where is the budget for that going to come from ?
No GenAI in my life needed thanks
