How transparent is music psychology as a discipline? Unfortunately not yet near acceptable levels in making data (5%), analysis scripts (1%) available, nor committing to preregistration (0%) or replications (3%). Benchmarked to psychology in graph. One wonders what the rates are at better journals. I'd imagine eg Psych Sci has a way higher prereg rate than most area journals, and this may be true regardless of topic
I am not disputing that there are no preregistrations in music psychology but these are not common, not found in these specific journals, as they are also uncommon in psychology https://osf.io/yck93/ despite some of us doing these all the time.
Numbers a bit disappointing, though trends improving as I would hope.
I've recently joined the Music & Science board, and have been trying to enforce their transparency policies (https://journals.sagepub.com/author-instructions/mns) as editor.
