When Harris said it would be $4,000, the “fact-checkers” tut-tutted and claimed what she said was only “half true” because there were some lower estimates. The “fact-checkers” lied; Harris was telling the truth.

Absolutely. There are good reporters that work in these companies, but it’s vital to understand the corporate economics that exist at a level above those journalists.
Early edition of today's cartoon ( I wanted to squeeze in "thanks in part to" and "consumption" but that might be too much so I went with this verbage. Quick and more concise):
The guy obviously wants to start a real fight here with us. He’s trying to sink us into a recession so he can declare Marshall law when we start to riot. They’re trying to buy us out folks.
All I know is what my senator told us the other week in our very red state. If you are a family of four on Medicaid, your cost will go up $26,000 on top. That was only for health insurance. So, whatever your alluding to now - pull your head out of your ass. Everything is going up except pay.
So we had this perverse feedback loop where fact checkers would get off on taking the Democrats down a prg or two for minor transgressions, while Trump would lie his ass off and berate the media as "fake news radical left biased media!" and the media would back off.
The media has a terrible habit of saying they're "just calling balls and strikes" and leaving out the context of "the left was a little out of the strike zone" versus "Trump hit the batter in the head and then called him an ethnic slur"
And this isn’t even taking into account the jobs that will inevitably be lost, reduced competition and innovation, and ruined international relationships.
That is assuming people will be able to afford to buy things. I imagine it is going to get so bad now no one is going to spend a dime that is not vital. Lots of stuff going to be cut out of household budgets. No one is going to be buying new cars or building new houses...ect.
So the good news in all of this is a new job sector opening up: correcting the bought-out fact checkers once they're proven wrong. Ex post facto checkers?
The fact checkers were on something during the campaign. She’d say something true and they’d say something like, but it isn’t true yet and we don’t know for sure if trends since the dawn of time will continue, so we rule this false
The trouble with politics in the US : ignorant voters have no clue there are OTHER COUNTRIES. 🇫🇷🇪🇺🇺🇦 did you calculate the costs frim retaliatory tariffs from Chin, the EU, INDIA, EVERYBODY ELSE ? 🤣🤣🤣
Technically other countries’ tariffs on US goods are paid by citizens of the other countries, but you’re absolutely right that there’s a cost to America in terms of lost contracts overseas, lost jobs, etc. It’s just bad all around for the global economy, and the US is shooting ourself in the foot.
How is it a lie?
Those were estimates, so there were hypothesis… the fact checker noted Harris hypothesis couldn’t be considered as a hard fact, which is true. She happened to be right, but that didn’t constitute a lie
Because calling her statement “half true” based on the fact that the estimates varied is a lie. The reason for the uncertainty was completely due to Trump’s refusal to be honest about what he was going to do and Harris was pointing to the most likely outcome, which is exactly what happened.
« It will cost 4000$ » is still half true… « Nobody knows how much it will cost because Trump doesn’t have a plan, but certainly thousands of dollars » is true… doesn’t make Harris a liar, but fact checkers are doing their job, important in the context. Don’t shoot the messenger !

Media elites lied to people. Continuously. and some people were gullible but being a liar is worse.
