I really don’t get Bluesky’s focus on videos. The platform doesn’t have a real algorithm, which is something most social media users want. People end up making do with the Discover feed, which doesn’t send posts to the right audiences. As a result, everyone gets flooded with annoying reply guys.

I have noticed that Bsky tends to cluster posts by keywords at times, but that’s about it.
I’m fine with that, but don’t want another Facebook/Twitter algo “keep you scrolling forever” experience.
I will follow/search for specific topics, or have collections of creators to consume. But I also like to have the opportunity to have the algorithm introduce me to new creators and topics so I can decide what to add to the collections.
I hate when everything is controlled by something else to where I can’t dictate the content I’m ingesting.
Facebook very much became that— too much “suggested” this and that with no rhyme or reason.
A *HUGE* part of what makes TikTok so popular are their algorithms.
I supposed other people like that, but for me, it felt too consuming.
I would rather they focus on features users are asking for and would benefit the platform instead of shooting from the hip.
Maybe I’m an outlier, but I like to be able to pick a channel based on my interest at that time. Sometimes I want movies, sometimes math, sometimes news, Sometimes humor…
Meta and Netflix seem to focus on engagement, but that leads to boring channels.
How do I get good channels?
