Nobody ever gets dinged for having bad instincts. It's crazy. If this were, for example, the pest control industry, you wouldn't have a job for long if you incorrectly assessed a termite riddled home.
A principled champion of free speech would tolerate book burnings, boycotts, denouncing of teletubbies, protests against conservative speakers, pro-Palestine rallies and sit ins, and even social pressure against bigotry.
You'd understand all that as free speech/expression and recognize that the state arresting people for these activities — or outlawing certain types of expression altogether, is a grave violation of those principles.
But Peters, a dipshit, biased reporter and reactionary liberal, essentially is saying the universities should have cracked down harder on students' free speech and expression far before the Trump admin did.
I know of a less prominent but probably more effective DC/National politics investigative reporter who doesn't vote either, but that's because they don't want to be doxed.
Another pro-tip: use whinging instead of whining when it comes to bad-faith right-wing protestations. I don't know that there's a huge difference in the meaning but whinging sounds more mechanical and less natural.

The Horst Wessel Song?
It’s what college kids do. And, god bless them for it.
Has been for years.
