All of the Daniel Craig Bond movies had incredible opensing scenes. If you stop watching Spectre after the opening scene, it's one of the best movies ever made.
I once heard that scene brilliantly described by the guys on the YouTube channel Mr Sunday Movies thus: he goes through those embassy offices like an escaped gorilla from the zoo then just grabs a pen pushing bureaucrat and utterly ruins him for no good reason, it's brilliant.
The latter Bond movies owe so much to the Bourne franchise for making spy movies cool again. They cribbed a lot of their style from that series and it’s been much better than the Brosnan age cheesiness.
Fantastic opening scene to a top tier movie. But not near the “action” of the bond scene they’re talking about. Hand-to-hand combat, jumping off/running through things, ‘splosions!
the entire scene is full of subtle character moments for bond: the graceless way he lands each jump, going through obstacles rather than around, using random objects as weapons. really sets up his recklessness and overconfidence
As a British person, I can assure that nobody really gives a shit what clothes James Bond wears. The main thing we do care about is what he drives. The BMW product placements in the Brosnan films was wrong on every level.
It reminded me of the scene from police academy with the sound effects guy. Like it's cool that he can do that, but you might be stretching your narrative a little to accommodate it
That was so exciting when it was new and on the big screen. What a thrill! It certainly influenced decades of action movies and millions of teenage parkour aficionados
While these are not my favorite, I really am a fan of the 'Bond song'. Some others i like Sam Smith / Writing on the Wall, Duran Duran / View To A Kill and ANYTHING Shirley Bassey has done. Her's ARE the Gold Standard. (Pun fully Intended.)
It’s amazing. The rawness. When Bond runs through the wall during the chase and seeing him not get a perfect landing on the crane showing the audience that we’re in a new era of rawness - brilliant. I adore the Skyfall digger opening the train carriage landing, but Casino Royale’s rawness is 👨🍳😘
Daniel Craig is my favorite James Bond, and I grew up with Connery. Every Bond had at least a couple of good movies, except for Pierce Brosnan. I like Brosnan, but those movies were just action adventure product, with no soul.
Belle and Foucan were childhood friends and were both members of the yamakasi - the founding group of traceurs. Belle is definitely the founder of what we see as parkour today, and Foucan of freerunning, but they were not just contemporaries but collaborators and friends

*Do you see what I have to work with?!?*
Who needs something as trivial as a plot when you can run and jump, eh?(!)

I do vaguely remember comments about his hair colour though
"a *blond* James Bond, not sure that's going work work"
Just.
Although maybe second place in the pantheon.

And a special acknowledgment to actress Caterina Murino (Solange Dimitrios), because... damn.
Is peak cinema. It was first.
Oh..... you meant the *other* Casino Royale?
Robocop shooting a guy in the dick?!!!
Heeeeelloooo!
Now THAT'S peak cinema.
Casino Royale is just an imitation
The whip, the spiders, the gold statue, the giant stone, the chase, the plane, and the final gag about snakes/backbones – perfect.

Gladys Knight- License to Kill

I thought it was quite a clever dialog, but to each their own!
