The percentage of Americans who would say, "yeah sounds good" if you told them that the Government says it can grab you, declare you a gang member, and send you to a slave labor prison, without any process, cannot be particularly large. Probably about the same as that 30% Trump floor.

When the White House announces they are only going to deport criminals, they don't mean criminals, they mean people who don't have the right paperwork, which is very much not a crime.
That's why we can only deport, not jail them.

I also feel like the answers on that poll would have been way different if the difference between "accused" and "convicted" were emphasized. I would bet a lot of respondents didn't process that.

Polling has ALWAYS shown that the large majority of Americans prefer a path to citizenship rather than mass deportation, when people are asked to choose between those options -- which are the actual two options for addressing the undocumented population. Yet those findings are never reported on.
