So, the one I experienced was not as bad when compared to other countries, but I have to ask - do Americans realise a coup is happening?

Like, you're talking Super Bowl & Grammys & your new president is unraveling your rights & gov. That's a coup.

Might want to stop what you're doing & fix that.

When our elected officials have abdicated their oath of office, there isn’t a lot to be done. The only way forward is through it. We warned people this was going to happen. And we will be the ones picking up the pieces eventually.

I contacted our WA senators to ask them to fight back, especially @cantwell.senate.gov who's been so disappointing so far (she voted yes to confirm most nominees).

It sounds small but enough people pestered senators over the past few days that some of them seem to finally start fighting back today.

Lots of people don't. It's OK. Being aware is actually huge. You're now ready to see opportunities to help where you can. From calling reps to donating to the ACLU, whatever you do, however small, it matters.

The good thing is you don’t need an idea where to begin. Others have begun, and need help. You can look up mutual aid groups in your area and see what way you can assist. I also second following @prisonculture.bsky.social for exactly this kind of overwhelm <3

It's a "funny" thing we don't think about studying history and society. There are 86,400 seconds in a day. Of course the people can't focus on the worst things around them every second, they'd break. And honestly, if ANYONE deserves moments of celebration and praise these days, it's Black women.
