No just some turbulence as indicated in other galaxies. I wouldn't expect there would be any significant increase in star formation as there wouldn't be much actual contact. There is a lot of space in there.

3/4 the smaller galaxy is swinging around counter-clockwise, and is now slightly behind the larger galaxy. The space between stars is so vast that when galaxies collide, the stars in them usually do not collide. 3/3

We could be viewing a terrible destruction of life. There are probably a million solar systems, with accompanying planets, in each of these 2 galaxies and the chances of intelligent life on at least 1 planet is high. If there is a collision, that life will be extinguished.

The notion of distance is of interest as we peer outward. The universe is not a projection onto a sphere. Big dipper ( or any other constellation) would not persist as we learn to travel huge distances. Somewhere a doge-shiba surely would be seen.

Hard to believe a distant galaxy is as wide as light decades wide, but appears as dots here. The inverse square law would be incredibly small coverage to appear on my retina. How big is big, how far is far?
