Unfortunately this may result in muddy communication.
Scientific thinking is, that everything needs to be tested. And even then, you are never sure.
The problem is, that some might misinterpret this as "it's one or the other, so that means a 50/50 chance."
So the expert in question might be technically correct, but the message gets misunderstood due to muddy communication.
It takes a lot of work to refute bullshit, because bullshitters will bullshit and sound confident, while more serious people will have all sorts of reservations.
To some, this will make the bullshitter look more trustworthy, but in reality it's the opposite.
But maybe a meteor strikes. Or a sandworm eats Trump. Or aliens takes over our planet and enslaves us.
Maybe something less drastic. The world is complex and hard to predict. I believe experts are vary of excluding all possibilities.
