Like, for about two or so years now, I've been seeing more and more people call to end production of chips and batteries entirely. If it was just companies pushing stuff like AI, okay whatever. That's stupid and I hope it costs them. But people are now pushing to end technology entirely.

People were so misguided about the Luddites, thinking that they were anti science, when in reality they were willing to work with machines but didn't want a machine that devalued their craft creating lower quality and quicker to break.

They wanted quality and wages to keep up but industrialist wanted the opposite, cheaper, worse stuff made by less people for less money so they could fill their pockets while reducing the quality of life of people.

Thing is, it was beyond that. They were showing how the machines were making lower quality products which devalued the market and made it harder to make a living wage with the previous man made stuff which was higher quality and lasted longer.

My take is that the vast majority of people think about tech entirely wrong: they think about it as something that *happens to* societies, instead of a thing that some people *do to* societies.

An impersonal force like the weather, instead of just another form of social control/influence.
