So I was at the dentist this afternoon and the hygienist said “Now if you’re interested, I can offer you a fluoride treatment” and I don’t think she was ready for the HELL YEAH GIMME THE FLUORIDE RFK JR. CAN SUCK IT energy of my response.

I actually found out my insurance covers it at my last visit and “HELL YEAH” was also my response.
I’ve never once had a cavity and I plan to keep it that way!
Resistance can be big or small;) I like the result, but those treatments usually taste horrible. So you basically just took one for the team. Thank you!!!
At least I got a choice of flavors. She said mint was overpowering, and melon sounded weird, so I chose grape and it was like having my teeth coated with purple Popsicle.
My hygienist is always saying "now, I know insurance won't cover the treatment, do you still consent?" And my response is always "I mean, the treatment itself gives me the sensory ick, but yes, please give me the preventative medicine insurance *should* be covering thank you."
A coworker was horrified when I told him my brother and I took fluoride vitamins because our town's water wasn't fluoridated. Neither one of us had cavities until well into adulthood, though.
I swear it has got to be awful right now working in so many of these targeted fields. You are following your training and science to HELP people but then you have to walk on pins and needles to not be yelled at because they believe some bum over you.
To be clear, fluoride is a neurotoxin and you can refuse the fluoride in the polishing treatment. Also, it never needed to be in our water supply or toothpaste. This is the only thing I agree with RFK on!
My grandmother grew up in a town with naturally occurring fluoride in the water (Medicine Hat, AB) and when she died at 89 she had all but one of her own teeth.
Grew up on a well that didn't. We just used toothpaste (with flouride) and got monthly rinses in school. Ah, the ole "swish and spit" in a Dixie cup.... Good times.

Perhaps it’s just part of a trade off with my really bad eyes.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I had a similar conversation with my hygienist at my last checkup, too.
