artists!⚠️
this is your reminder to back up those couple of brushes you cannot work without. it will take just a few minutes.
get them up into a cloud, send them to yourself by mail or something, you never know when software decides to be stupid and you'll need to reset your stuff

I'm a traditional artist. Took time to realize this is about digital brushes 😭
but! you can always save the details about the brush and try to recreate it somewhere else ( shape / texture file / other info )
But a splendid reminder i may need in the future
if you want to save *all* the settings, it's more of a workaround than legit backup, you just copy material folder and save it somewhere. those can be big, that's why i backup only a few
very good advice. thanks for the reminder
if you stick with any software and use their base brush / tool set you're fine! but any edits you do to default brushes need to be backed up, either through screenshotting your favorite settings or program-dependent backups
Anywhere else?
i was chatting about that issue last month tho 🔽 and since then decided to nuke my brushes and make new ones i can keep as .clip files in raw format easily
Its always good to have a nice blending brush...
I'm far too used to the watercolour tool on SAI, and Krita has been a bit of an adjustment because of it :(
you just reminded me of all the brushes i have for PS locked away on a hard drive in the closet.
its been a long time since i used PS
felt tip pen (hard) may read like a bad fanfiction tbh
BACK UP YOUR SHIT! PUT IT EVERYWHERE!
Last time I used it there was a small chance that every time you draw a line the entire canvas gets filled and the program crashes. I hope it's fixed now
I'm unstoppable!
idk a whole lot about this sort of thing
I'll look for some tutorials of how to save a brush, thanks for the advice!
Take care!
i use proton drive to auto-sync my art folder with the cloud, bonus point i can pull my art on my phone anywhere i go to c:
3 backups
2 in different formats
1 offsite.
But tbh any backups at all is a good start. "The cloud" is technically offsite. Just sticking a usb in a draw is okie sometimes too. soo many people don't backup, and they wont realize the extent of what they need until it's far to late.
Rip to your brushes bro
I think. Hope so.
Also to add to your tip: Set auto save to less than 15 min so you don't lose a whole sketch like me.
serious answer: keep a doc / journal with your favorite medium names and detailed info + where you got them (if hard to get), possibly rating / description why you like it.
am genuinely annoyed i don't remember brand of specific cardstock i used in the past D:
