Pro Tip: If anyone tries to pay someone in exposure, they don't have the credibility for that exposure to be worth anything. Also, exposure doesn't pay the bills, so never accept anything short of cold, hard currency.
Well that's how D.J.Trump felt he was paying all those who worked for him, after all anyone who did work for the great & all powerful Trump was getting free publicity & exposure for the work they did & so he wouldn't pay them the full price they asked, some of them had to claim bankruptcy & close!
I bought your "Horrible therapist" with actual money not exposure. It was for my husband for Christmas and everyone nearly peed themselves laughing while playing. It was awesome, thanks!
People who think that a person wants "exposure" instead of money are completely insane. Not only that, but the "exposure" they'd "give" them would most likely be non-existent anyhow. The thing is, IF someone has THAT much clout, they have more than enough money to pay someone for their services.
I have a feeling you didn’t understand my point because I feel like I have to repeat it.
Imagine someone has a billion dollars and they’re an artist. They made new art and they want the world to see their work. For that person, what is more valuable?
People don't realize that just having your name put in front of 1 million people is worth insane amounts of money. Just look at how the modern celebrities of this time all got catapulted, because someone gave them exposure.
When people/entities try to pay me in 'exposure,' I ask them for THEIR products/services in exchange instead.
They usually refuse.
Which makes it dang easy for me to refuse them.
Reminds me of a colleague who was wanting a PhD student to work for us for free for the experience. The student knew much more on the subject than the colleague who was being paid heaps.
I grimaced as it cemented what this colleague was truly like.
In the miniature sculpting world, it's "Hey, do this thing for free for me, then you can sell it (because everyone will want one), and we can both get lots of monies!"
A wealthy arts “supporter” I know said once to me, an artist and champion of other artists for decades, well you know what artists want most? We answered at the same time. Me: Money. Her: Marketing. She looked shocked.
Even with UBI, Pay. Your. Artists! Period. Don't start this idea that they shouldn't get laid just bc money is coming in front somewhere else too. PAY YOUR ARTISTS!
Enjoying the increase in accounts posting images of roses. While I enjoy flowers as much as the next, I prefer them to politicians, I wonder, is it for the exposure? Anyway, here's a picture of some tulips, from keukenhof 🇳🇱 carrying the same name as my late mum.
I don't ask people for help with stuff online because I have no way to pay them. If I do give someone exposure, it'll be me sharing something of theirs I didn't ask them to make. Paying them in exposure when they expect money is a dick move

On Tuesday = CIVIL WAR
I commission people. I pay them (well) because they are sacrificing time and energy for me.
I have no idea why you'd ever say, "This is better than money."
Unless you're sitting on a six or seven digit follower number- "exposure" is worthless.
If people weren’t struggling for money, they’d take exposure over money.
Imagine someone has a billion dollars and they’re an artist. They made new art and they want the world to see their work. For that person, what is more valuable?
Seen by 300 million.
But you don't know if that's his real name or if I made it up.
And that should tell you everything you need to know about exposure.
They usually refuse.
Which makes it dang easy for me to refuse them.
I'm very sorry but we're not, and neither are our suppliers.
"But they're just giveaways"
They're still not free.
I grimaced as it cemented what this colleague was truly like.
A guy with 200 follows gives 3 exposure dollar. Meaning someone might see it and say "thats a lil familiar.
Disney will get you a couple million exposure dollars so people say "HOLY SHIT THATS THE OATMEAL" and pay you.
Reminder: Disney pays real money too.
You still need to be paid in money. The more exposure something will get, the more money someone will pay you for it.
So if someone wants you to work for free, expect little to no real exposure.
Then there's training. Where YOU pay to work.

Unfortunatrly, it costs money to survive, so pay artists we must.
