Also the "my heart goes out to you" is an obvious reference to a nazi salute if anyone at the paper spent more than five minutes online and read that specifically do this, just like the OK symbol.

I remember learning Spanish & using novelas for (ridiculously entertaining) listening practice about 25 years ago. Verástegui was one of the regulars.
