Need help picking a book to fit this reading prompt.
The problem is, without being able to browse at the bookstore, I’m not sure what nonfiction book looks interesting and is also about something I know nothing about.

(Must stop buying and queueing more books, must stop...)
But thank you, this looks fascinating 🙂
But I’m always available to recommend books if people want them. Especially horror books as that’s what I mainly read.
Right now I'm reading Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. I'm really liking it.
An empathetic look at failures of cultural competency in modern medicine. Focuses on a specific case of a Hmong child with epilepsy, but its themes are quite expansive.
As a medical professional, it’s stuck with me a long time.
This one has been recommended a lot so I’ve got it on my TBR now.
Great thread! Helpful to push me out of my comfort zone — Adding others’ suggestions to my TBR right now. :)
Nonfiction, reads like a thriller.
Always interesting and super funny!

For light reading: Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake, about the world of fungi & their influence on humans.
For heavy but rewarding reading: Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. The author is a civil rights & death penalty lawyer in Alabama, and this is his memoir.

Some other options I thought about were Legends and Lattes, or the Lot Lands Series by Jonathan French.
This was a very interesting read. Lots of stories about how they develop and use forensic techniques.
It just shows that they started evil
The Bad Ass librarians of Timbuktoo is also good

If this was fiction, I’d say the author was heavy handed with how awful they made them.
The fact that it is real makes me want to go flip off these bastards graves.

Also really liked Art Thief.

“He pulled off more than 200 heists, often in crowded museums in broad daylight”
“His collection was worth an estimated $2 billion”
“…displaying his stolen art in his attic bedroom”
Much more than mysteries.
