I'm shocked at how clueless non-Trumpist Americans are about the attacks on democratic institutions. Or is that understandable? Hungary can serve as an example here. Unfortunately, not how to stop the build-up of an illiberal regime. Rather, it shows how the authorities have been eliminating democratic institutions, a free press and the independence of the courts. 3/2

Perhaps we could now help our American friends to see what awaits them if they are not careful. Just as the US and other Western countries helped us to build democracy after the fall of communism, we could now offer our expertise to them how democracy could be dismantled step by step. 3/3

Especially as Project 2025 was more or less public.
But I honestly think the majority of Republican voters want a dictatorship light. Not a dictator like Stalin maybe, but like Orban or Trump. Someone who does the thinking for them.

Thing is, Orbán's regime is only comfortable for two kinds of people: 1. who financially benefit from it (and for that you have to move in the "right" circles), 2. who are passionate about the ideology. The rest who like it do so only because they've no info about the world other than propaganda.
