I’m gonna make up some historical shit like the pilgrims didn’t want to eat after 2-3 because it would have been cold and dark and no one likes eating in the dark so they decided thanksgiving should be at 2pm. The end.
I’m just here for the chaos this caused. I prefer a target time and we live by the turkey: sometimes it’s done a little earlier and sometimes later but the side dishes follow with eventual consistency
Day eating is like day drinking. It means you can have a nice nap, re-up in the evening, and wake up without a hangover. But instead of functional alcoholism it’s just more bird meat
Our family gravitated towards 1-2pm because it let us all eat together, watch some football, and then folks who had family on their spouses sides could scatter for dinner and the rest of us hoovered up the leftovers.

Americans don’t wait unnecessarily to stuff our faces. We eat as much and as early as a very basic level of decency will allow.

...by the time you've eaten it all.
Time is just a construct after all. 😁
