I did this in Canada too! Not specifically planning and zoning, but it is a city position with a housing focus. And it's one of my favourite things ever, I get to see tangible impact up close. Incredible payoff for the amount of hours I invest in something.

Like I cannot express to you how much just being a warm body in a seat makes a difference to local politics.
