Is he there to collect another portrait of Trump? Or maybe a lovely poem this time? And a 'history' lesson for Steve from Putin? Marvellous; the outcome will be spectacular.
Steve. Russia has spent the last few years telling its people it is fighting NATO in Ukraine. Then they are welcoming a US envoy who has arrived to ‘broker a peace’, which feels a bit weird, given the US is the predominant military power in NATO. How are they spinning this to the Russian people now?
Trump's golfing buddy Witkoff is in Russaia to cobble some shady trade deal for Trump and continue to talk up Putin as a wonderful person.
It's beyond Witkoff's skills to ever negotiate a lasting ceasefire, let alone a peace deal, between Ukraine and Russia.
@bbcstever.bsky.social: ‘Wonder if there'll be more gifts passing hands..? The last time Mr Witkoff met Mr Putin, the Kremlin leader gave him a portrait of Donald Trump to take back for the US president. Steve Witkoff recently revealed that President Trump "was clearly touched by it."’
I keep asking myself why didn't Bojo jump on a plane to visit Putin prior to the invasion. There is so much that went wrong when the useless Johnson creature was in 10 Downing Street. I bet Kier would have stopped the madness before it started.
Thankfully Starmer is no Trump, bizarrely declaring that the war would never have started if he had been Prime Minister.
The UK can be proud that the leaders of the major parties have been firm in their support for Ukraine and not sought political advantage, from Johnson through to Starmer.

(Seems like the MAGA administration does have some common sense)
It really doesn't smell very good
