Students whose families make less than $100,000 annually will get free tuition and waived fees at any of the academic universities in the University of Texas System

Harvard should do this as well. They have so much money in their endowment that they could offer free tuition for every student for more than 100 years.
They do for family incomes under $85,000. All of the Ivy Leagues have had similar policies for at least a decade. As does Duke and a handful of other wealthy private schools (but they all do a horrible job of recruiting these students)
I guess they're trying to fill empty seats? I imagine enrollment is down in hate filled states that disdain higher education. I imagine that the acceptance rate is biased to white people.
Schools like UT are targeted and made into the boogeyman by right wing propaganda. I’m sure that’s resonated with some of the families who this would help and maybe that will change when they can now see their own kids go there.
Ok, but for each course you have to tithe 10% of that income to buy the course-specific Trump bibles they use for textbooks. Plus, for ladies, those red gowns ….
As a Texan who attended UT, I’m probably going to have to see this reported a million times before I believe it. Texas isn’t doing anything for anyone these days.
I’m menopausal so needing an abortion is not a dealbreaker for me. If they let me take Art, Pottery or something fun, it might be a nice free vacation on Texas’ dime. Fuck em.
They will fix that menopause thing for you too. Just cause they don’t believe in science doesn’t mean they won’t use it on you, whether you want it or not
Don't do it. You'll still be spending your money in Texas and paying taxes in Texas. You'd be supporting a terrible government. You may never need, or want an abortion, but thousands of other women in Texas will and your financial support for Texas screws these women.
Also remember it’s Texas so they won’t teach them everything they need to know. But look at the bright side, at least your education isn’t from Florida or Oklahoma.
Well hell, even I would have gone to Texas if I would have gotten free tuition
Dammit, I may have to stan Texas, despite being a proud Fightin Texas Aggie
I’m guessing not a whole lotta people want to go to school after the student loan forgiveness debacle.
I would be really upset if I had student loans and my family made less than $100,000
