Be litigious. It's not a bad word; and jury trials are usually the only thing that grabs these fuckers' attention. Plus, getting that dude paid is the very least a civil society can do.
I’m a 63 year old white man whose total interaction with police is a speeding ticket 40 years ago and I don’t trust cops one bit. Is that me problem or a cop problem? I know my opinion.
While we get the same answers from city councils around the country, "We cannot afford more training for police" while paying out tens of millions in lawsuits.
Americans deserve a well trained police force, our police deserve to be trained well.
A policy suggestion to hold departments and staff accountable is ending qualified immunity and the PBA should be penalized for providing an attorney for their member not the tax payers.
Regardless of race, he deserves every penny. Beating up a clearly disabled person is absolutely appalling. Phoenix Police are some of the most corrupt in the United States.
That's basically what defundung means. Police also need far better training. There are too many volatile people going into this profession that are called to situations that they aren't knowledgeable enough to de-escalate, and that's when people die
I get you, my understanding of the meaning “defunding” was a total dismantling and removal of the police force. Seems like better recruitment and training is needed as opposed to just doing away with it entirely
In my mind that means defunding the police and putting that into community resources, as well as dismantling the prison system and replacing it with restorative measures. Fund food banks and financial assistance, require community service instead of imprisonment etc.
For instance, Denver, Colorado has a program called STAR (Support Team Assisted Response) which is specifically for behavioral health emergencies. They still have police but they have another option that actually supports those in crisis.
I agree with all of that however I do have a slight issue with issuing community service instead of prison time. Some crimes deserve prison time surely? Not talking about things like possession of drugs but things like murder surely can’t be met with community service
Well for one thing, we usually let people out of prison, unless they're serving multiple life sentences. Prison also doesn't reform people, and generally it doesn't make them less likely to do a crime. It feels better but what is the actual goal of jail and prison? And does it accomplish that?
So for example, if a murder was committed within a community, who would it fall onto to resolve that and bring justice to the victim? Again I wanna reiterate I’m not trying to antagonise, just trying to understand how it works
What if police had to get malpractice insurance, and if they get sued, it comes from that. And if the insurance company won't cover an officer anymore because they are a liability, they lose their policing license and can't practice policing anymore.
I live in Phoenix. I will gladly hope my taxes pay him. IF and only if: the offending officers are fired, with pensions stripped to cover part of the judgement. Same for those who train them. PHX Police has some good people; they should rise to the top.
In the coming Trump administration, we won't be able to seek justice federally like we did under the Biden Administration. Trump's DOJ will give police full immunity. Federally at least. Then you're at the mercy of the state judiciary and authorities.
Step back and observe. Something fundamental underpins Tyron’s ability to sue let alone win or be paid. There is still a system in place that can make that happen and enforce it which was not always there before. Let’s hope that system doesn’t decay.
Not enough, but as I understand it, there is an amount that you can defend is reasonable for pain and suffering. So I hope this young man gets the entire amount and also has Phoenix pay for all court costs.
Not sure that applies here, considering they beat this man before they knew if he was a threat or committing any crime. The real issue is they jumped out the car and started throwing punches and tasers on the word of a white man who was the suspect. Him being disabled is just insult to injury.
Arizona police love f---ing people up. Anyone else remember what they did to that poor pest control worker? Straight murdered him on his hands and knees.

So I go to that link, then there's a link to the unredacted report. Check this out...

Now and forever.
Thoughts and prayers are with you
Policies like this would force police unions to stop protecting their own when their own commit vile acts of savagery.
We seriously must abolish police! They’re an existential danger to the public!
Why would we need anyone to take their place ?
In short, we need to adopt a restorative justice model vs the retributive model we have now. This explains a bit. I’ll find more links.

Make these judgments come out of their pocket, and watch them switch it up faster than Usain Bolt.
And if it's a red state? Good luck.
Police need to not be scumbag cunts.Doesn't matter if someone is disabled or not. Just don't be a scumbag bullying cunt.
He’s going to deal with C-PTSD for the rest of his life.
