I found an add-on called PIE, which I downloaded and works as an Adblock for YT. You do have to use Chrome for it, but it’s been a god send getting rid of the ads again. Try it!!
they have that thing now where they do a 60-second break and say it’s Less Ads for This Longer Video and I have no way of knowing it’s actually less ads than it used to be
I call BS on that from YT. There's no difference, just longer ads.
My only tip is if you exit out and go back into the video enough you either skip the ad altogether, or get a 5 second one. I'll take 30 seconds of that, over watching unnecessarily long ads.
Yeeeaaah, doesn't seem like much of a diffefence so far when I hit 'next' as compared to letting it play out. Half tempted to test it out by watching the same thirty minute video twice to see if there is a difference, but it really isn't worth it
and they’re trying to manipulate people into not skipping the few ads that are actually skippable by no longer counting down until you can skip and not showing that you can skip them until it’s nearly too late
And it's just gonna get worse. These companies pretty much have conquered all the customers that are available. So the only way for them to get more profit is pay their employees less, charge more for their services, show more ads, and make their service shitty/cheaper.
I think that YouTube will continue to perform doing ad marathons because they know there're no real competitors in its way and they just can't help themselves because money is all that matters to them.
Agree, but I still refuse to pay them to go ad-free...because I long for the good old pre-Google days when people posted fabulous gems like this https://youtu.be/Q5im0Ssyyus?si=QsKbpPDdyFn7WtIJ
it's so painful to try to watch anything. i used to watch youtube more than any other app but I've slowly just started cutting back on the amount of content i watch there. after one or two videos a day i'm so sick of it i give up
Drove me totally nuts. So I started paying monthly not long ago, could never go back now, and glad to support some of the skilled and dedicated documentary makers out there. Some remarkable people.
Try using some good ad blockers, my friend! If you're using Chrome, I recommend checking out the Mozilla Developer Edition browser for a better experience.
You are welcome
Utube is garbage. Censorship is off the charts. Their guidelines don't allow for dead bodies or even bloodstains. No scenes of war or school shootings. Anyone who monetizes their channel obeys for the almighty $. They're whores
I use revanced on my phone (pretty sure this isn't an option for iOS folks, I used to use brave to watch YouTube on my phone before that)
And I just use Firefox and ublock on my PC, to me this is the only way to make it not unusably infuriating to watch.
The game console version has to be one of the worst offenders. I'll get 5 individual ads with only half being skippable and the others being 30 seconds. When I can skip, it skips to the next ad. Sometimes when they've all played, 3 seconds later, I'll be immediately hit by the same thing again.
I heard they’re gonna start giving premium users ads too actually, this is why competition is important! Seriously, idk if we’ll ever get a youtube alternative thats as widely used
Seriously considering youtube premium. I watch youtube almost exclusively and have for over a decade at this point. Google and youtube are definitely making funky decisions but I’m still here
Do you use youtube on mobile app or Browser? I get ads on the mobile app but none whatsoever using Youtube in the web browser. i use the same Google acct. on both and free, non premium.
also, i'd be lucky is I got a minute video. Gotten a whole 15 minute video.
What’s crazy is that if ads were all creative/ enjoyable to an extent people would watch them. I know that is an impossible/ subjective metric to meet, but it’s volumes en masse of total radioactive garbage not remotely interesting. YT needs to be in favor of all creators who carry their platform
No ads to get the customers to leave the old media cable companies.
Then once the tech corps got us and destroyed the competition, they became the competition by double dipping. Getting ad money and asking customers to pay not to see the ads.
I'm impressed when they have a series of short ads and then try to sneak one of those 90+ second ones in that is three times longer than the video you want to watch.
No company has ever made that many innovations in terms of ad delivery as YT since a few past years. It's crazy! 60 s ads skippable after about 30 s and afterwards an another unskippable ad. Imagine if YT was that productive in UX or in development of other features, but it doesn't earn more money.
Aaannndddd the adult content. Look up 'mic pumping' and 'yoga challenge'.
Some of those may bring up 'transparent try on', which may lead you to the inappropriate child videos. That's right. YouTube IGNORES IT. They refuse to address my reports. Won't talk with me. Deleted my dog's channel, though!
Also it's like, why would I pay for something when I was already watching for free years before all that. Insane
Not giving them one penny, don't care about premium or their YouTube red and whatever else.
Ads, ads within ads, YouTubers stretching their videos when it can be explained in less time
I subscribed to YouTube Premium for this very reason. I had already switched from Spotify to YouTube Music, so it made sense to spend 4 more dollars for ad-free YouTube.
It's the corporate Way.
Does anyone remember when cable first was introduced - pay us a small fee and everything will be advertising free?
Now advertising is common on cable, too.
Same with Amazon prime video!
YouTube Premium has been available since 2014. Allowing users to watch content with no ads and you get YouTube Music with it. It's pretty great with the family plan too allowing you to add up to 5 additional people.

I don't have the patience for this and I won't be buying premium
1 day I was half paying attention and a commercial tried to play out like a thirty minute infomercial
https://youtu.be/Q5im0Ssyyus?si=QsKbpPDdyFn7WtIJ
They only get away with this because there's nobody they're competing with.
I do not subscribe to any other services, just this.
IOS:UyouPlus
PC: plenty of extensions, find one that works

If they don't want me as a customer...

That whoever gets annoyed with their ads should get their premium l🤦🏾♀️

But the Cigarettes After Sex tiny desk segment was awesome to watch!
Adguard + Ka-Block

Typical tech disruptor model.
Confirmed.

Curious though as to how much the ads really drive in custom - we’re on YT because we’re cheapskates 😂
In reality they just want people to pay for premium.
