there are software programs that remove the DRM locks so audible books can be played on any mp3 player. I’ve been using AAX for one hundred years, (Okay, that might be an exaggeration…) but it is simple and fast.

it’s called Libby and it’s from overdrive. Overdrive used to be a standalone, but now you have to use ‘Libby’ for their content.

I have gone back to my KOBO, and request books from my library (Libby). I gave up kindle unlimited, & don't buy books on amazon unless I can't find them anywhere else. Can be a bit hard because, I read a lot of indie horror, and I'm in Canada so prices and shipping if I order paperbacks is a lot.

i had kindle several years until its dead 1yr ago, then decided 'no more amazon' and bought kobo. there is a lot of web libraries and e-book stores, not only shitty amazon. and I'm veeery satisfied of my decision

And no, you don't have to stay at the library to read, either, if you've got one of those situations where you are uncomfortable in your local library. You get to take the books home on your honorable promise to return them. I can't think of a better bargain anywhere.

We ended our account with all things Amazon, which means books we purchased and movies are gone. When you buy such things they don’t exist, there is no book to hold, no dvd to play, it’s just gone. Wasted money. You want to read a book, buy a book you can put on a shelf, donate to your library.
