Governor doesn’t have power to summarily fire the Mayor. She can hold a hearing where she is judge, prosecutor & jury. Mayor presents a defense & can appeal in court which could take years. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/nyregion/eric-adams-deputy-mayors-resignation.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share

it may not be practical this time, but just the threat worked once before.
You need a MUCH bigger platform than MSNBC.
The vast middle (moderates and Independents) need to hear you!!
The hearing stalled primarily due to a shoddy defense consisting of ex enemies and cronies But it was enough to make hizzoner resign. ( Later pardoned by Trump, has paid minimal fines, is now a pastor)
Shit
Hole

Just regret all the damage he may cause in the meantime while under Trump's thumb.
As odious as Adams is...I was NOT comfortable with a governor being able to REMOVE a duly elected mayor.
But, on @maddow.msnbc.com, she didn't exactly rule out consideration for that either.
I read the mayoral primary is June. That's only 3 months away. Meh. I'd tend to not try to remove him. The NY AG can bring charges if they have something.
Also the judge hasn’t ruled yet. Sadly I don’t have much confidence in that ruling.
That said: we made a deal. I can set an alert for 10pm to watch “The Last Word” with @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com
And so it goes. 💙🥰
The chances of Adams "doing the right thing" are precisely zero.
What's to stop any GOP Governor from "trumping up" reasons to remove The Democrat leaders from their cities?
As for your question of what's to stop any GOP gov from removing a Dem mayor, nothing. Not even a lack of precedent.
2. Why can’t NYAG pick this up?
