I get this when people ask me detailed football questions, I neither know nor care, I want to watch a fun game and fancy some players, enjoy some drama and maybe, as you say, practice teaches you things, have *some* opinions on formation or tactics, but that's it. Otherwise I'm simply uninterested.
yes!! and I think that's such a nice part of being alive, but Being Online sort of makes you feel like you need to learn more, become an expert, have opinions on everything etc etc, when you just....don't, actually
This reminded me of a friend of a friend who went on a lengthy course about wine and when he was asked if he would recommend it said something like “god no, now I know what I’m meant to look for I spend a lot more on better wine but I don’t enjoy it any more than the cheaper stuff I used to buy”.
Strongly agree with this! I like to be surprised on the night! Fair play if you want to have thoughts about Belgium’s entry in the semi-final and such like but I simply want to be pleasantly baffled and enjoy the silly jokes about their skirt/hamster wheel/yodelling :)
I just inherited my dad's old camera, which is a 60s-era double exposure (twice as many half-size vertical exposures, rather than normal-size horizontal ones), with no light-meter or focus field.
I'd been thinking, I have to learn how to use this before I take it out.
I know this feeling very well (and I am also a deep, deep nerd about many things! It's not about that!) so I'm giggling quite maniacally at this description.

And now I realize I don't.
