I know this isn't going to make processing the better sourced article on Neil Gaiman any easier, but folks.
Death of the Author is a framing device for analyzing works and doing critique.
It is NOT pretending the author doesn't exist, especially when that's not how art works.

Just sitting there uncritically consuming their media in ignorant bliss.
Which i get, it's hard to have to maybe feel less good about something you like.
But ignoring it only makes it worse over time.
It's disingenious, ignores how who a person is seeps into their art, and just. It's avoiding the actual issues.
WHat I am saying is it does need to be acknowledged that Neil Gaiman's works were written by a serial abuser. In that acknowledgement, a more truthful understanding is had.
But. Some of his power (not all, but some) can be reduced by not spending money on adaptations, or his works, and also being VERY careful about how his works are talked about.
It's a harsh truth, but it's better for so many reasons, for both you and others, to face it and process those negative emotions, rather than avoiding it.
