NEW: On paper, Salvador Cavazos earns less than $300,000 to run Valere Public Schools, a small Texas charter network. But taxpayers likely aren’t aware that in reality, his total pay makes him one of the country’s highest-earning superintendents.

Shame each and every scam school. I’ve seen these scam students and the public by using out of date computers, dirty unsafe facilites and underpaid teachers all in the name of “profit”. Sickening
Would love to see what the teachers are making in this sham of a charter. Likely close to the poverty line.
There’s a reason we have public education in this country and those that understand it well, resist public monies going to charter and private schools.
Thanks for this. I have tried reaching out to Last Week Tonight to provide a tip about the astronomical contracts of city managers, to no avail. There's also an interesting cottage industry of the headhunters who try to get them hired, and many cities are becoming less transparent in that process.
A superintendent w/8yrs of experience, overseeing an avg public school district of 3659 students, makes ~$183k.
Exorbitant admin pay w/less responsibility- coupled w/a modern segregationist goal of returning America to a pre Brown v-BOE age, is why MAGA wants to dismantle and privatize the BOE!
$870,000 compensation to oversee 3 charter schools
w/less than 1,000 students in Tx? Apparently his full compensation was kept secret. I want to who paid his salary? Were parents paying such high tuition rates or was he robbing tax payers? Is this what we can expect after we lose the Dept of Ed?
As many problems as I have with organised Xtianity (so many!), criminalising religion only leads to antitheism becoming a cult of its own (or the state, or …). Religion as a whole is not the problem; a lack of critical thinking on the individual level and blind faith, whatever it’s in, are.
As always when they bitch about something it means they-themselves are doing it. Case-in-point "redistribution of wealth", they bitched-and-moaned about this for years when of-course they themselves doing it all from the poor masses to the rich few.
There’s your government waste, it’s not Medicaid or the VA it’s this Private Sector Welfare Queens who give nothing back to society and we as a people if they just disappeared
Of course the Texas govt will throw this specific superintendent under the bus, call themselves champions of justice and then also say "Good thing it was just that one bad apple, the system works".
Here's hoping investigative journalism is a growth industry.
What was the criteria for bonuses? By any measure the work to earn those was done by students and teachers. The superintendent’s salary should not exceed a teacher’s salary that much.
Charter schools were never about giving kids a better education. It's always been about funneling public school dollars to Catholic and other religious schools and the ...

Charter Schools are a GIANT RIPOFF of taxpayers.
Everyone pays taxes for public education, whether you have children or not, because education is valuable for society.
Taking public education funds to pay for private education robs both people with and without children.
Here's hoping investigative journalism is a growth industry.
