It’s wild how bad the Swiffer sucks at its stated purpose. All the refills are expensive, it takes a while to reload, and it absorbs as much as a single paper towel. The most American invention in history.

A buddy took an ‘innovation’ class from the guy that invented the swiffer. Original idea was a reusable washable cloth with the same properties but they shut that down right away.
yeah the swiffer-likes I've seen have velcro on the bottom so you can use them with almost anything, not just the premade washable pads or the branded disposable pads.
I’ve got one by Bona - there’s one with purple nubbins to pick up dust and dander which will always end up filthy no matter how long I sweep. Then a blue one that looks like they skinned Cookie Monster that is kind of a wet mop. There’s a refillable spray bottle that slots in.
The issue is that doesn’t solve the fact that velcroing is time consuming vs a libman mop where the head is removable and machine washable and snaps on in a second
It’s so funny when you have a job that requires you to use anything that has a household equivalent, they give you shit that hasn’t updated its design in fifty years and works like 20x better. Never bought a vacuum as good as the ones I’ve used at jobs I’ve had
That thing can suck. Paper just piles up near the cutter (another thing with a fifty year old design) and you don’t even have to vacuum over it a second time. This thing vacuumed up dried mud in carpet like it was nothing
Remember that time Instant Pot went out of business because they were too good and reliable at what they did that you never needed to buy more than one per household’s lifetime
top 5 but the number one american invention in history is the leafblower. loud, overengineered, wasteful, solves the problem by making it someone else's problem
Also I was once specifically told that you must never use a Swiffer on antiques because somehow they ruin the finish, which seems like a surprising problem for something that is supposed to be just a disposable cleaning cloth.
Libman makes one, that has an empty "tank" you fill and reusable washable pads, which was nice, while I had it...Now they come w/a bucket for rinsing, but haven't tried that & not planning on it either
Amy is correct. At my house, first is a dry duster (washable, reusable head), then follow up with power mop. The swiffer PM gets the majority of dog hair and dust. Deep cleans are far more involved, cause no mop cleans well in corners or next to walls/trim. That's a scrub brush and towel thing.

It's a very small upgrade to a broom. Nothing more.
Hasn’t broke for 5y.
the volume of pet fur isn’t good for vacuums or a washing machine
But it works better
but I have already made a very good regular cleaning routine out of "dry swiff to wet swiff"
it's faster and easier to clean up after than getting a mop and bucket, which I save for big jobs
